EKITI MONARCH HOSTED IN LONDON

The elegance and radiance of a king glitters greater than the highest carats of the purest gold, when he is surrounded and celebrated by those who know his worth. It was a royal reception that will never be forgotten in the annals of history, as the United Kingdom branch of Ekiti Parapo, a globally recognized Yoruba indigenous organization, gathered at Leander Centre, London, for a special reception, in honour of the visiting monarch of Usi land, His Royal Highness, Oba George Adedayo Akande, Orokoyo II, Kabiyesi Olusi of Usi Ekiti.
In his welcome address, the President, Olamide Idowu, who described Ekiti Parapo UK as an association with unprecedented capacity to connect with all registered members, irrespective of where they live in the United Kingdom, expressed his indescribable joy for the achievements of the association since the inauguration of the current team of result-driven executive members, in August 2022. We have created a digitally functional, more vibrant association to foster friendships and make a positive impact in the lives of our people. Today, Ekiti people in the UK can register on our website and obtain an identity card with a unique membership identification number within 2 minutes. Olamide Idowu, whose projection is to build an estimated membership capacity of 5000, create chapters of Ekiti Parapo across the regions of UK, and support them to function just as it is with London chapter gave as part of his scorecard, the collaborative effort with an NGO situated in Ekiti State, Divine Motivation for Positive Impact Initiative (DMPII), to feed 100 families in four communities in Ekiti State . The food items that were packed in one hundred boxes were distributed randomly to vulnerable families in Iluomoba, Ijan, Ijesa-Isu, and Aba Fatunla, all in Ekiti State. He assured the visiting monarch, of deepening the efforts of Ekiti Parapo, in lifting the culture, values and glory of Ekiti across the globe.
In his response, Oba George Adedayo Akande, lauded the commitment and sacrifices of all members of Ekiti Parapo in UK for efforts put in place for the unification of our sons and daughter across the length and breadth of United Kingdom. He advocated for spirit of brotherhood, collective work and responsibility. In his word, he said, Agbajo owo la fi nsoya. Ajeje owo kan ko gbe eru dori, which is translated literally as; it is with the combination of fingers that one beats his chest, a single finger can never lift a load to the head. In other words, teamwork works wonders, and as the saying goes, Together, Everyone Achieves More. Oba George Adedayo Akande, in his final submission, prayed for progress and prosperity for all sons and daughter Ekiti in the UK, as he reiterated for peaceful coexistence, furtherance of collaborative efforts and uncompromising unity.
To make his visit a memorable one, Kabiyesi, Olusi of Usi Ekiti was presented gift items, as expression of appreciation for honouring the invitation and reception organized for him, to which he showed his appreciation and for the resources put together to make the occasion a success.
