FG Approves Electricity Intervention Projects for Ekiti

The Federal Government has approved key electricity intervention projects for Ekiti State to improve power supply across the state.

The approval, granted under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP), was announced on Tuesday in a statement published on the Ekiti State Government’s official website.

The projects include the extension of a four-kilometre 33kV power line from CBN Junction in Ado-Ekiti to Iyin-Ekiti, and a six-kilometre 11kV power line from Ayoba Junction near the Government House to the Ekiti State Water Corporation, Technical College, Ado-Ekiti, and the Technology Incubation Centre.

Ekiti State Commissioner for Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, said the projects were approved by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company following a request by Governor Biodun Oyebanji for federal intervention in the state’s electricity sector.

He explained that the projects would upgrade both transmission and distribution infrastructure, improving electricity supply to homes, businesses, schools and water facilities.

Aluko added that the state government would soon hand over project sites to contractors to enable immediate commencement of work, assuring residents of timely completion.
